Home Versus TownHouse

When you start to look for a new home, no matter where you're looking, one of the first questions that you need to answer is what kind of home you're looking for. Even if you're looking all in one area of Mobile, you most likely still have the choice between several home styles. This article is meant to show you the differences between choosing a standalone home and a townhouse, and should be useful in your home search whether you're looking in Mobile or at High Park Toronto real estate. The fundamentals of each style are essential the same no matter where you live.

When talking townhouses, most people think of a row of houses, usually at least two-storeys, which are all governed on some way in a similar manner that condo developers govern their properties. There are fees that go alone with the unit that are used for maintenance and care, and one does not have total control over their property. While this is true of many Mobile to Mississauga townhouses, that is not the whole story.

Townhouses are known as a great option for people just starting out in the real estate market. Generally, you can get more space and rooms than you would for the same price range with a standalone unit. Plus, you still get the luxuries of having your own garage and yard space, something you don't get with a condo. If you've been browsing through Mobile or Lawrence Park homes for sale and can't seem to afford a decent sized home with all of these extras, maybe a townhouse is the perfect alternative for you. Yes, you will sacrifice some of your privacy and independence, but you will still have the space to breathe and grow.

A single-family home is not associated with any overseeing group and therefore, with purchase, the home is completely the property of the buyer. This means that other than with city building codes, you can do anything you want with that house without needing the permission of anyone. This is the true independence of owning your own home. So, if you're relocating from Toronto townhouses, maybe you're looking forward to that extra freedom.

Another advantage to a standalone home is that the resale value of the property is most likely higher than you would get with a townhouse unit. Standalone homes are the most desirable among those shopping for real estate, and with higher demand comes higher selling prices. If you're living a lifestyle where you might be looking for Burlington homes for sale in a few years, buying a single-family dwelling now is probably the best bet for getting a good fast return on your investment.

But, buying a standalone home is not all advantages. With the independence that this type of home brings there is also increased responsibility. The owner is the one to pay up when maintenance and repairs need to be done to any part of the home. Also, many townhouses come with access to extra amenities like pools and fitness clubs. This is not usually the case with a standalone home.

Whether you're in the market for your first home or your fifth, there are many reasons to consider both a townhouse and a single-family dwelling. The decision you make will most likely depend on your finances and the necessities you need with your new piece of real estate. Happy house hunting!
